Despite a major hip surgery, Julia Mancuso is determined to make her return to competitive skiing. The 33-year-old Squaw Valley, California native has her sights set on qualifying for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which would be her fifth Olympic appearance.

Mancuso's Olympic Success

Mancuso has a remarkable record at the Olympics, having won four medals throughout her career: one gold, two silvers, and one bronze. Her gold medal came in the giant slalom at the 2006 Turin Olympics, and she also won a silver in the super-G in 2014. Mancuso's success has made her one of the most decorated female American skiers in history.

Recovery from Hip Surgery

In 2019, Mancuso underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in her hip. The injury had been causing her significant pain and limited her ability to train and compete. After a long and challenging rehabilitation process, she is now feeling confident in her recovery.
